Meet Jeppe Rowing Club’s First Oarsman Jeppe Rowing Clubs first oarsman. Martin Maine reminisces on Jeppe Rowing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCq3QiqO2sI We’re gaining, keep the pressure on. Jeppe 1st 8 – A race against time and the exchange rate Thank you for the interest you have shown in supporting the initiative of getting the Jeppe 1st 8 team into their boat by SA schools champs 2021. Your response to date has been phenomenal and we have been encouraged to see so many who share this vision. Please do check out the Boat Barometer to see the progress made. To achieve our goal, we knew we were in a race against time. We now have another challenger, the weakening of the Rand. This has meant that we need to increase the amount needed to R600,000 which is a big jump from the initial target. But, as Jeppe boys, we stand by the school’s motto that ‘Nothing is to difficult for the brave’ and are resolute that we can still do this. In response to the challenges of both time and the exchange rate, we have picked up the pace and adjusted our race plan. We are now looking to bring the ordering of the boat forward and have the boat landed this year. This will benefit the 1st 8 crew who will have the season to train and compete in preparation for SA Schools champs 2021. To make this possible, we need to raise the deposit in a matter of weeks, some old boys have already been approached about this and we are extending the request to you. We hope you will rise to the challenge and help us raise the deposit of R450,000. We look forward to your response and welcome the opportunity to work with you to making Jeppe Rowing great.
